C. P. Radhakrishnan took the oath today, September 12, 2025, as the 15th Vice President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The oath was administered by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in a formal ceremony attended by top political leaders and dignitaries.

Born on May 4, 1957, in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, C. P. Radhakrishnan has been an influential figure in Indian politics and public service. He served as a Member of Parliament from Coimbatore in 1998 and 1999 and has held several key positions within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including State President of BJP Tamil Nadu. His experience also extends to administrative roles, having served as Governor in multiple states.

In the Vice Presidential election held on September 9, 2025, Radhakrishnan defeated the opposition candidate, Justice B. Sudharsan Reddy, by a margin of 152 votes, securing 452 votes in total. The victory was officially certified by the Election Commission.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, and other prominent political leaders.
